Friday, March 26th, 2010 | Fedora

After doing a huge yum update on my F12 box, I found

Running DKMS auto installation service for kernel 2.6.32.9-70.fc12.i686.PAE

usb-storage (1.0): Installing module.
…….(bad exit status: 10)
Build failed. Installation skipped.
Failed.

Whatever that is, it’s not coming from Fedora proper. DKMS is a system for installing out-of-tree kernel modules, which Fedora doesn’t support. Even RPM Fusion doesn’t use DKMS – it uses a similar system called akmods. So you’ve clearly got something third-party going on there.

I’m not entirely sure why you’d want an out-of-tree version of the usb-storage module?

Thanks for telling that, I guess that came from a very old testing I was doing, found the rpm , removing it.
